I want to do it. Why the hell does my lazy butt want to help other people and want to do good shit but I never get around to actually DOING it. I disappoint myself.
sigh.
This is a great idea
Just throw an old blanket or two in your car and the next time you drive past a homeless person stop and give them one. Job done. 8:-)
What a thoughtful gesture and a great idea!! :) I do my bit at the Salvos each year. With the nasty weather we get in summer, you'd be surprise how grateful the "Homeys" are for umbrella's, raincoats and boots!!
I'm going to do it, Queen. I talked about it to my daughter this morning and she thinks it's a good idea, too. There's a homeless guy who's been up in Chestnut Hill for YEARS (like 15 or more.) I've made up my mind to buy a warm blanket from Walmart and also a knit hat, plus Sarah suggested getting a pack of those heating "sticks" that you snap and stick them in your pocket or gloves & they get warm for a couple of hours. I'll do this and keep them in the car & I'll let you know when it happens.
I hope your friend's idea works out!

I'll let you know when it happens.

Wonderful! Don't forget to also let Donna know at crazyquilts08@yahoo.com
I'm probably going the indirect route and giving multiple blankets to a homeless shelter. But I plan to go out of my way to see if my local homeless guy, Dave, wants anything specific... blankets, necessities of life items, or rolling luggage (I learned that a lot of people use luggage to transport their belongings & rolling luggage... even used... is highly coveted).

That counts. Be sure to let Donna know when you do it.

That's a great idea. I'm sure Dave will appreciate it.

wheeeeee!
I did it!

Here's my post about it.

I'll email your friend and let her know that I did it, Queen. It was the nicest feeling and I'm glad that you posted this --- it motivated me to do something good for someone else. Thank you!

I ALSO bought 4 fleece baby receiving blankies in pretty girl/boy colors. I don't have any healthy insurance, so I go to a free clinic when I need to go to a doctor. The clinic is AWESOME and in their waiting room, they have food & bakery items for their patients to take home with them, plus handmade mittens & hats and stuff like that. I have an appointment in another week, so when I go to my appointment, I'm going to take the receiving blankies along to give to them so they can give them to some families that may need them. PLUS I have a bunch of new baby onesies that I had appliqued to sell at a recent flea market that I had gone to, but they didn't sell. So I'm taking THEM along too, so the clinic can give them to some people who have little babies.
Thanks again for this post, Queen.
